About the Course
The use of telehealth in clinical practice expanded rapidly during the COVID-19 pandemic, bringing questions of efficacy, legality, and ethics to the forefront. While telehealth offers clear advantages, including increased accessibility and strong clinical outcomes, it also introduces legal and ethical complexities that can impact patient care. This course provides a structured, clinically grounded review of telehealth practice. Through didactic instruction, participants examine current research on telehealth efficacy and learn how to communicate these findings clearly during informed consent. The course also addresses common legal challenges, including practicing across state lines, privacy and confidentiality considerations, and documentation requirements. Using clinical vignettes, we explore real-world ethical dilemmas, such as clients attending sessions outside a clinician’s licensing jurisdiction and navigating Medicare opt-outs and private contracts. This pre-recorded webinar is available on demand and must be completed in full to receive continuing education credit. Partial credit is not awarded. Continuing Education Approval Cannon Psychology is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists.
